Taj Mahotsav- Celebration of India’s Diversity

Taj Mahotsav is a 10 day annual festival celebrated in Agra, Uttar Pradesh. It is set against the backdrop of the splendid Taj Mahal. It is celebrated every year from February 18-27 at the Shilpgram - a famous crafts village near the Eastern gate of Taj Mahal.  It started in 1992 and is organized by UP Tourism with the motive of promoting the creative art of craftsmen and help them to showcase their respective skills. The venue is decorated in bright shades to create a happy,  dazzling ambience.  The festival offers a wide range of beautiful dance performances by many national and international artists, great music and tempting cuisine. It is the most famous fair of art & craft where artisans show their exquisite work of art and craftsmanship under one roof which makes this fair a confluence of traditions and cultures.  This year's theme is ' Jashn-e-Virasat'.  Things showcased here include : wood carvings from Tamil Nadu , shawls and carpets from Kashmir, marble and zardosi work from Agra , blue pottery from Jaipur , chikan work from Lucknow,  silk from Varanasi and many more. There are fun rides and many other attractions for kids . This festival is to celebrate India's rich and diverse culture , craftsmanship,  food and art where one can watch the Taj Mahal in full moonlight , shop to his/her heart's content and can try mouthwatering cuisines from different regions across India by renowned chefs.
