WORLD DAY FOR INTERNATIONAL JUSTICE

WORLD DAY FOR INTERNATIONAL JUSTICE.

International Justice Day: The celebration is an effort to bring together people who aid in preventing crime that threatens peace, safety and well-being. This day gives victims power. They can finally stand up for themselves against crimes that have been done unto them. International Justice is strengthening every day and people need to be made well aware of that. This day helps victims fight against crimes pertaining to war, humanity and genocide.

The Rome Statute of International Criminal Court of Justice establishes the court's functions, jurisdiction and structure while defining eleven broad crimes against humanity, namely, extermination, murder, enslavement, torture, imprisonment, rape, forced abortions and other sexual violence, persecution on political, religious, racial and gender grounds, the forcible transfer of populations, the enforced disappearance of persons and the inhumane act of intentional natures.

THEME AND GOAL :

The ICC has launched a digital campaign via its social media accounts to mark the day on the theme of building a “More Just World”. It said the campaign aims to encourage people to “reflect, act, learn and connect for the cause of peace and justice”. In line with the campaign, the Twitter handle of the Court has hash tagged every tweet around the theme.
